At First Baptist Church St. Clair,
we exist to glorify God by making disciples and advancing the gospel.

BIBLICAL PREACHING

As a church, we love the word of God. We believe the best way for us to feed on the word of God for the nourishment of our souls is through regular exposition of Scripture. An expositional sermon takes the main point of a passage of Scripture and makes it the main point of the sermon, showing how it applies to life today. By preaching directly from the Bible, our goal is to know God and to make Him known as he has revealed himself to us in His Word. We believe that it is God’s Word that convicts, converts, builds up, and sanctifies God’s people.

Discipleship

DISCIPLESHIP

As a church, we believe that the Bible teaches that a live Christian is a growing Christian (2 Pet. 1:8-10). The Bible also teaches that we grow not just by being instructed, but by imitation (1 Cor. 4:15; 11:1). Because of this, we believe churches should encourage their members to both grow in holiness and help others do the same. Discipleship is important because none of us are finished projects and if the church neglects the growth of its members, it will discourage genuine Christians and wrongly assure false Christians.

MISSIONS

As a church, we believe in our calling to go and make disciples both in our own community and to the ends of the earth (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). The goal of missions and evangelism is to tell non-Christians the good news about what Jesus Christ has done to save sinners and to urge them to repent and believe. In order to biblically evangelize, you must preach the gospel, call people to repent of their sins and trust in Christ, and make it clear that believing in Christ is costly, but worth it.
